Little things make all the difference.
It’s so easy to look at life negatively; it’s easy to let things get you down. It’s easy to get angry, sad, stressed… It’s easy to think that life isn’t fair. Missing a bus, burning your toast, stubbing your toe… these are all small circumstances that can ruin your day… but only if you let them.
When I’m having a bad day, I try to find little things to be grateful for. I find little things to make me smile again. Here are some of those things…
- Opening the curtains to let the sunshine in
- Listening to my favourite songs on repeat
- Spending a bit of extra time getting ready
- Spending a bit of extra time on breakfast
- Sleeping in clean sheets
- Helping someone else
- Driving with the windows down and radio up
- Listening to the birds sing
- Popping bubble wrap
- Getting into a bubbly bath
- A facepack after a long day
- Making somebody laugh
- A tidy bedroom
- Making plans with friends
- Calling up an old friend
- Sitting and watching the world go by
- Blowing dandelions
- Ordering something online
- The thing you ordered online arriving
- Watching candles burn
- Morning cuddles before getting up
- Eating lunch at the park
- Smiling children
- Taking my bra off at the end of the day
- Walking outside with bare feet
- Telling someone you love them
Some days are shit but it is possible to them a little bit less shit.
